Holy Family and St. Columbkille Announce $14 Million School Renovation
Dubuque, Iowa – Holy Family Catholic Schools and St. Columbkille Catholic Church leaders announced plans over the weekend for a $14 million renovation of St. Columbkille Elementary School. St. Columbkille is the last of Holy Family’s planned facilities renovation projects, as presented in its current strategic plan.
After months of planning and capital campaign fundraising, parish leaders have set a target to begin renovations at the end of this school year. In its earliest phase, the parish has secured more than $6.2 million in private donation pledges in addition to a $5 million commitment from Holy Family.
Highlights of the renovation include expanding the school’s capacity to serve three sections in each grade level, K-5, making St. Columbkille Holy Family’s largest elementary school. The new layout will house all school activities, including lunch and early childhood programming, which are currently held in separate buildings on the St.
Columbkille campus.
For safety and efficiency, students will be accommodated during the 2024-2025 construction period at other Holy Family school locations. Preschool through grade one students will transition to St. Joseph the Worker Early Childhood Center and grades two through five will move into the presently-vacant south wing of Resurrection Elementary.
