Sacramental Preparation

Baptism

Preparation for Baptism at Resurrection is accomplished through parent sessions. Baptism for infants is celebrated within special Eucharistic Liturgies throughout the year. For more information please contact Deacon Gerald Jorgenson, Education and Faith Formation at 563.556.2580.

Eucharist

Preparation for First Eucharist at Resurrection is accomplished through a combination of home and parish preparation sessions. Children celebrate the Sacrament when parents, child and the Ministry coordinator agree the child is ready. This usually occurs in the second grade. Orientation is in the late Fall with preparation beginning formally in January. First Eucharist is celebrated in the spring during the Easter season.

Reconciliation

Preparation for First Reconciliation at Resurrection takes place prior to reception of First Eucharist. Preparation is accomplished through parish and home activities. Children celebrate the sacrament when parent, child and coordinator of religious education agree the child is ready. Orientation in the late Fall with formal preparation beginning in January. First Reconciliation is celebrated during the season of Lent.

Confirmation

In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, teens must be at least 15 years of age to be Confirmed.  Teens generally choose to participate in the Confirmation preparation program during their sophomore year of high school, culminating in the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring.

Adult Confirmation

See RCIA below.

Marriage

The Church of the Resurrection prepares engaged couples for the Sacrament of Marriage - here you will find some of our guidelines and policies.

RCIA

Preparation for the Rite Christian Initiation at Resurrection is a process through which adults are fully initiated into the Catholic faith community. The RCIA community gathers weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., starting in early September.

We invite all who are interested in discerning God’s will for their lives to join us:  those from other faith traditions who wish to become Catholics; baptized Catholics who wish to complete preparation for the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation and; fully initiated Catholics who wish to learn more about their faith.

The Resurrection RCIA program is all about making new Catholics and making Catholics new!  Join us as we answer Jesus’ call to “Come, Follow Me”!

For more information please contact Sr. Francine at 563.556.7511.
