Pastoral Care

Resurrection Parish makes every effort to be truly a “visible presence” in its pastoral care.  Such a ministry requires a large number of volunteers, and parishioners are generous with the stewardship of their talents, offering their energies in many areas.  Following are some of the ministries which the parish offers:

Personal Concerns.  Father Hauer, Sister Francine, or Deacon Tim will be available at any time to visit with you about any concern which you may have, either of a personal nature or about the parish itself.

Anointing:  Father Hauer will be happy to anoint persons not only as they approach death, but also before major surgeries.  Please call the parish office to arrange this.  In addition, communal anointing services are held in the fall and the spring.  The Parish Bulletin announces these dates and times.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available any time by appointment and on Saturdays from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.  A communal reconciliation service is held during each Advent and Lenten season.  The Parish Bulletin announces these dates and times.

Hospital Visits:  Members of the professional staff each take a day every week to visit the hospitals to pray with parishioner patients and to bring them pastoral comfort.  Be sure to say at registration time that you wish the parish to be notified.  Otherwise we do not know that you are there.

Care Centers and Homebound:  Pastoral Associates and Volunteers visit parishioners at care centers or who are homebound at least once a month, praying with them and being attentive to any needs they may have to which the parish can respond.  Please contact the parish office when someone moves to a care center or becomes homebound so that we can include them in this ministry.

Communion Ministry:  Volunteers take Communion to persons who are homebound or are otherwise temporarily unable to come to Mass.

Prayer Ministry:  There is a book in the gathering Space in which you can write intentions for which you wish parishioners to pray.  These are included in our Sunday intercessions and at daily Mass.
The parish also has a prayer chain on which persons can ask for prayers.  Requests are sent in a speedy manner both by email and telephone.  Please contact Karen Meyer (588-3547) or Marge Kane (583-2149) or email:  Resprayerchain@aol.com

Ministers of Prayer:  Coteries of senior parishioners volunteer to be special Ministers of Prayer.  Father Hauer sends a monthly letter to each volunteer with specific intentions for which he requests their prayer during the month.

Service Personnel:  If you have a relative in service, please send us his/her picture and we will post it with some brief information on our bulletin board in the gathering space so that we can remember them in our personal and communal prayers.

Senior Rides:  Volunteers will drive persons to Mass on the weekend upon request to the parish office.

Dissolution of a Marriage.  If you are divorced and wish a Decree of Invalidity, please contact Father Hauer, Sister Francine, or Deacon Tim for assistance in making this petition to the Archdiocesan Tribunal.

If you wish any of these pastoral services, or if you would like to volunteer for any of the ministries appropriate to your skills, please call the parish office (unless otherwise indicated) at 556-7511.
